Power Searching with Google...How will I use it in real life?

A lot of times the internet can be confusing and often frustrating. However, knowing how to power search and find information quickly can help you to understand what you're searching just a little bit better. Overall, the Power Searching with Google unit has benefited me in many ways. Not only can I use the tools I've learned in school, but also outside of school. Before I started the unit, I had only heard of Google Books. After completing a small activity using Google Books, I realized how helpful it might be to me in the future. I can use Google Books for verifying quotes and finding Books that I will enjoy reading. As a freshman, using quotes to support my writing is essential when it comes to research essays and even homework. Sometimes, I don't have enough information to support the quote. Therefore, using Google Books will help me dig a little deeper into my writing and allow me to correctly find out who exactly said a specific quote.
Along with Google Books, filtering search results by size and color will benefit me in the future in more ways than one. Although Filtering results is something that I knew how to do before, I never really used it or realized how beneficial it can be to my school work. For many school projects, images are not only required, but needed. Knowing how to find the best image possible is important. The right color is important and filtering my results can help me to find what I am looking for a lot more easily than scrolling through hundreds of results. The power searching with Google unit has benefited me in many ways. Not only can I use these tools now, but also in the future.

  1. I completely agree, Emily! The Powersearching unit has been extremely helpful to me already, and I think it will also be useful in the future. Filtering results is probably of the most useful things I learned. It minimizes the time spent finding the results that you're looking for.
